The Storyteller
Before every good sale, there’s a story.
Think about it. Would you really have splurged on that tomahawk ribeye at Ruth Chris’ if they hadn’t mentioned that it was butchered from the longissimus dorsi muscle or that it was french trimmed like a rack of lamb in the shape of a Native American axe?
We are social creatures, and we learn from stories. When there’s a sale involved, sometimes we learn about the goods being sold; sometimes, we learn about the seller. Either way, if the job is done right, we walk away feeling better. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Investors are no different. You might think that all they want from the first meeting is the entrepreneur’s story. But, often, they have to tell stories of their own. After all, in some markets, willing investors are easy to come by. So whom to choose? The teller’s story may decide.
By that standard, today’s guest should get all of the deals. Arjun Bhatnagar, of Rally Cry Ventures, is a natural-born storyteller. And, not a bad one at that! He can hardly answer a question without interjecting a story from his past — or from somebody else’s. Join the Team from Failure - the Podcast as Arjun regales them in stories of goats, airplanes and startups gone bad.
